"Life is good."

Greetings and salutations.....

This past weekend, I traveled with my boyfriend Josh to Washington DC to see the Billy Joel/Elton John concert... it was phenomenal! (Not as good as U2, but hey. No concert will *ever* surpass U2. :) )

They opened with three duets... the first being "Your Song"!!! It was fabulous, I was so happy. :) Then they played "Just The Way You Are" and "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me". After that, Elton did an 11 song set, and Billy played a 13 song set. (Yes, I am a nerd and wrote down the playlists as they went along. :D )

Highlights of Elton's set: "Someone Saved My Life Tonight"! I was so happy he played it... same with "I Want Love", because I really like that song for some reason. "Pennsylvania Freedom" was fabulous, and he played an extended version of "Rocket Man" that was *beyond* amazing. "I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues" and "This Train Don't Stop Here No More" were really good as well. He closed out with "Crocodile Rock", which turned out to be absolutely fantastic live. :)

Highlights of Billy's set: Basically everything! He opened with "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant", and followed it with "Allentown" and "Summer, Highland Falls", and they were all fabulous. He also played "Angry Young Man", which is one of my favorite Billy Joel songs ever, and you rarely hear it... that made my night right there. :) "Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out On Broadway)" was *great* as always, and so was "I Go To Extremes". Then Billy announced that he was going to play guitar instead of piano on the next song, and said "OK, well, we're going to play "The History Of the Cold War" now", and launched into "We Didn't Start the Fire". It was so cool, I loved it! :) He closed out with "Only the Good Die Young", which was very sweet.

The encores were all duets... the first encore was "My Life", "Here Comes the Sun" (a George Harrison tribute), "The Bitch Is Back", "You May Be Right" (BECKY!!! ;D I took pictures of it!!!), "Benny and the Jets", and "Great Balls of Fire" (or, according to Billy, the song about Elton's testicles). The second encore was "Candle In the Wind" and "Piano Man". (Would it even be a Billy Joel concert if he *didn't* play "Piano Man"?!?!)

The actual weekend itself was awesome as well. Me and Josh stayed in Alexandria, Virginia... which has now become one of new favorite cities. I am seriously thinking about trying to get into grad school in the Washington DC/Arlington/Alexandria area, and living in Alexandria... I *loved* it there! :D

Well, that's all for now... goodnight, all.
