I am feeling...
"I'm having a wonderful time, but I'd rather be whistling in the dark..."
Greetings and salutations.....
Damn, yo. It's been quite some time since I updated. Blame it on ROTC orientation, moving into my dorm, and not having my own computer yet to mess around with, because they're all legitimate excuses.
I've been on this computer in my dorm's lounge for about two hours, so I will keep this as brief as I can.
--I went to Air Force ROTC orientation week and had the time of my life. I have never been so happy before. The drills, the briefings, the PTs, the staff, the POCs, my fellow cadets... I loved every second of that week. On the last day of orientation, however, I was medically disqualified from the program. It's nothing contagious, but it's serious enough to get me disqualified from my life. I can never be an officer in the Air Force.
I have no idea what to do with myself now. I'm looking into the other military branches, but other than that, I am completely and utterly lost. I have been crying myself to sleep for the past week and a half.
--I moved into my dorm room in Regina North, and it is awesome as all hell. My roomies (Molly, Fran, and Amber) are the fucking coolest. My corner of the main room is currently extremely messy (prompting my roomies and I to make a sign on my wall that says "Gabby's Shithole of Sin"), but it'll be cleaned up as soon as I get my computer and some shelves this weekend.
--My classes are much, much better than I expected. American Democracy and Play Analysis for the Theatre are by far the most intriguing, with Comparative Politics and Christian Ethics not far behind. Elements of the Calculus promises to be extremely easy, but as we all know, easy equals boring in my mind. All in all, it's going to be a good semester.
--Last night, while on a smoke break with Molly and Amber, we met a girl by the name of Courtney. She is by far the most interesting new person I have met this year. We recruited another girl I've never met, Laura, to chill with us outside, and we all proceeded to share stories about how parts of SMC is haunted. Eventually, Courtney talked us all into going to Nick's Patio for coffee, and we ended up sharing stories about drugs, our boobs, men, and our sex lives for over an hour. Courtney, the fearless woman that she is, also managed to get the phone numbers of three random guys across the restaurant from us, and another two numbers from the guys sitting by the door that stared at all of our boobs as we left. It was damn good times. :)
--Tonight, Nine Days, SR-71, and They Might Be Giants are all playing a free show over at Notre Dame. I intend to go as soon as I get my ass looking decent enough. I've got time, though- I only want to see TMBG, and they go on at 11 pm. :) There is also a rumor circulating that U2 will be playing at Notre Dame on October 10... if this proves true, I am *so* there. I would spring at the chance to see Bono and the boys, let me tell you... :)
Anyways. That's all for now. Normal entries will resume soon, as soon as I am afforded the luxury of my own computer. Keep signing the damned guestbook... I know it's not as exciting as the comment sections on the Live Journal sites some of you people have (basically all my friends...), but I like Diaryland and I'm not switching anytime soon, so make do with what I got. ;)
Hasta lasagne, don't get any on ya.
