I am feeling...
"Becoming an officer."
Greetings and salutations.....
Only five more days until Gypsy is over... and it's my last production ever. I may shed a tear when the final curtain falls (how cliche, but also literally true)... or I may just start screaming in joy because I don't have to spend 6-7 hours a night pushing the turntable stage and striking large amounts of heavy furniture. I'll have a life again once this is done! I won't be so exhausted anymore! But, on the other hand, I have been a techie for five years now, and I will miss it *very* much, despite all my bitching.
A night or two ago at rehearsal, in a fit of rampant boredom and insanity, my kick ass coworker Angela and I decided to rename ourselves. So next time you see Angela, say "Hello, Supreme Dictator Darth Caesar!" And when you see me, say "Hello, Your Eminence the Holy Captain Hook of the Long-Handled Wooden Spoons!" We've been trapped backstage for way, way too long... it must be the pizza rolls... or the influence of Sven the Monkey... or a lack of Tinkerbell and Matt being around backstage. Or all of the above.
I would also like to give a big round of applause to Angela on her recent foibles. On her emails, she has her sender name listed at the top as "Supreme Dictator". Too bad she didn't remember that when she sent an email to the White House recently.
The girl at the Holy Cross Hall front desk is listening to "Step By Step". Wow... New Kids on the Block. How long has it *really* been, eh? Hmm...
I registered for classes at ND yesterday and SMC today. ND classes- Foundations of the US Air Force, Evolution of US Air Force, Leadership Lab (all ROTC courses). SMC- Intro to American Democracy, Comparative Politics, Christian Ethics, Elements of Calculus, and Play Analysis for the Theatre. I honestly can't wait for next semester- my classes should be pretty fun and interesting. And as for ROTC...
You know, it's so weird. After registering at ND yesterday, my attitude has now changed from "I start ROTC next year" to "I start ROTC in four months". I have this whole new perspective now. It's like, now that I registered, *I am in*. It's no longer something I talk about doing, but something that I have already signed up for and am going to be committed to. It is absolutely thrilling. I've talked for so long about starting a career in the Air Force, and now I've finally taken the first step to achieving that goal. I can only hope that I don't let myself down.
Well, I will end this here. I am tired, sick, and hungry. For all those in the South Bend area, come see Gypsy! It's my last show! And I *finally* get to take a bow with the crew! (how fitting- last show, and I get to bow...)
Merry Wednesday the 25th to you all!
